In a bowl cream butter, sugar and brown sugar. Add eggs, vanilla extract and almond extract; beat until fluffy. Drain cherries and reserve 1/4 cup syrup. Slice the cherries into fourths. Add cherries and the 1/4 cup syrup.
In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt and baking powder. Mix dry ingredients with cherry mixture. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees F for one hour on the lowest rack.
Let cool, then dust with confectioners' sugar. |
